• Before: The original driveway was in a state of disrepair. It featured cracked and uneven concrete paving slabs, overgrown with weeds. A series of poorly constructed steps and low walls created a disjointed and hazardous multi-level surface. The lack of drainage also posed a risk to the property.
• After: The transformation is amazing. The new block paved surface is visually appealing and practical, creating more safe space for parking. The integrated channel drain provides peace of mind, ensuring the driveway will remain free of standing water for years to come.

Project Steps

1. Site Excavation & Preparation
   • The initial phase involved breaking up and removing all the old concrete slabs, steps, and existing retaining walls. The entire area was then excavated to the required depth and graded to create a single, continuous surface, eliminating the previous hazardous level changes. A robust sub-base was installed and compacted to ensure a durable and long-lasting foundation for the new paving.
2. Retaining Wall Construction
   • To support the neighbouring ground and create a clean, defined boundary, a new retaining was constructed along the side of the driveway. We used high-quality yellow Marshalls walling blocks, which provide both structural integrity and a warm, contemporary aesthetic that complements the new paving.
3. Drainage Solution
   • To ensure compliance with regulations and protect the property, a crucial part of the project was installing a proper drainage system. A linear channel drain was fitted across the full width of the driveway, just in front of the garage door. This system effectively captures surface water runoff and diverts it safely to the appropriate drainage outlet, preventing water ingress into the garage. Additionally, a gravel drainage strip was installed along the new retaining wall.
4. Block Paving Installation
   • The main driveway area was paved using a multi-toned block in shades of buff, brown, and charcoal, laid in a classic 45-degree herringbone pattern. This adds visual interest and texture. To frame the driveway and create a smart finish, a contrasting double border of dark charcoal block pavers was installed around the perimeter.
