This was a huge and exciting project in Burnley, involved a complete overhaul of both the front and back gardens of a modern property. The original outdoor spaces were essentially blank canvas, primarily consisting of turf that was patchy and uneven. The aim was to create a series of stylish, functional, and low maintenance areas that would wrap around the entire property, providing beautiful patios, practical pathways, and a flawless front lawn, all while complementing the home’s contemporary stone and render finish.

Before and After
- Before: The back garden was a large, sloped area of rough turf, offering little in the way of usuable space. Similarly, the front and side areas were plain and lacked any defined features, pathways, or kerb appeal. The homeowners had a grand vision, and we were thrilled to bring it to life.
- After: The transformation is truly breathtaking. The property is now framed by gorgeous, multi-tonal Indian Sandstone paving, which creates a huge, luxurious patio at the rear and elegant, practical pathways around the front and sides. The front garden now boasts a perfect, maintenance-free lawn thanks to the high-quality artificial grass, set within a stylish raised sleeper bed.

This large-scale project was a fantastic showcase of our team’s diverse skills, from heavy-duty groundworks to precision paving and landscaping.
Part 1: The Back Garden – Creating a Sandstone Masterpiece
- Excavation & Levelling: The first job was to excavate the entire back garden, digging out tonnes of soil to create the different levels and establish a solid foundation.
- Sleeper Retaining Walls: Chunky timber sleepers were used to build the retaining walls for tiered levels, adding a rustic and natural texture that contrasts beautifully with the stone.
- Paving the Patio: The vast patio area was then expertly laid with beautiful, multi-coloured Indian Sandstone slabs. This natural stone is perfect for large areas as each paver is unique, creating a rich tapestry of colour and texture. A sleek, modern channel drain was discreetly installed to ensure the huge paved area remains free of standing water.
Part 2: The Front Garden & Pathways – Kerb Appeal & Practicality
- Front Pathways: The beautiful Indian Sandstone was continued around the side and front of the property, creating practical, elegant pathways that unify the entire design. A new manhole cover, recessed to allow for a perfect paving match, was installed to ensure a seamless finish.
- Raised Lawn: A new raised bed was constructed from timber sleepers, and this was filled with high-quality topsoil before being topped with a layer of premium artificial grass. This creates a perfect, zero-maintenance lawn that stays green and pristine all year round.
