Before and After

Before and After

  • Before: The garden was completely overgrown with weeds and cluttered with old bricks and debris. The space was undefined, messy, and offered no practical area for relaxation or socialising. A narrow, cluttered side passage was also in need of a complete overhaul.
  • After: The garden has been reborn as a spectacular outdoor space. A huge, beautiful Indian sandstone patio now provides a massive area for furniture and entertaining. This is perfectly framed by a new, L-shaped raised flower beds made from chunky wooden sleepers, creating clean lines and adding structure and greenery to the garden.

Project Steps

  1. Site Clearance & Excavation
    • The project began with intensive site clearance. The entire garden was stripped of all overgrown weeds, shrubs, and debris. We then excavated the whole area to the required depth to create a solid foundation for the new patio and pathways.
  2. Raised Flower Bed Construction
    • We constructed substantial, L-shaped raised flower beds along the boundary walls using new, tanalised wooden sleepers. These robust structures create a clean, modern edge to the patio and provide a perfect, manageable height for planting.
  3. Sub-Base & Drainage
    • A heavy-duty sub-base of MOT Type 1 hardcore was installed and compacted across the entire area. To protect the house from surface water, a new channel drain was installed along the back of the property, connected to the existing drainage system.
  4. Patio & Pathway Installation
    • We laid a large expanse of premium Indian sandstone paving slabs in a random, multi-sized pattern. The rich, varied tones of the sandstone brings warmth and character to the space. The new paving was extended down the narrow side passage, creating a clean and practical walkway, complete with a gravel drainage strip.
  5. Finishing Touches
    • All the sandstone slabs were pointed with a high-quality jointing compound for a durable, professional finish. The new raised bed were then filled with fresh, high-grade topsoil, ready for the client to begin planting.

Client Feedback

“We can’t believe it’s the same garden! The team took our overgrown, useless space and created a stunning patio that we can’t wait to use. The raised beds are fantastic and the quality of the stonework is exceptional. A truly professional job from start to finish.”

Conclusion

The result is a complete transformation from a forgotten jungle into a sophisticated and highly desirable outdoor living space. The beautiful Indian sandstone patio provides a luxurious and expansive area for relaxing and entertaining, while the raised sleeper beds add a touch of rustic charm and make gardening a pleasure. The garden is now a low-maintenance, high-impact extension of the home.
