Our client in Colne was looking to modernise their outdoor space with a clean, low maintenance design that could be enjoyed all year round. We delivered a full transformation, including a sleek Indian sandstone patio, a raised artificial lawn framed by timber sleepers, and carefully edged flowerbeds, turning a tired garden into a practical and polished outdoor haven.

Before and After
- Before: The garden was showing its age, an uneven, worn-out patio and a patchy lawn made the space feel cluttered and impractical. Drainage was poor, and the lack of structure left the area looking unfinished. The client wanted a fresh start with something clean, low maintenance and visually appealing.
- After: The space was completely transformed. A new Indian sandstone patio now offers a sleek and durable surface. The raised lawn, framed with timber sleepers, adds greenery and function without the upkeep. Defined flowerbeds and smooth edges bring balance and polish to the whole garden.
Project Steps
- Site Clearance & Groundworks
- We began by stripping out the existing patio, uneven grass, and loose gravel. The full area was then excavated and levelled to prepare for the new foundation layers.
- Sub-Base Installation
- A compacted hardcore base was laid across the entire garden to provide long-lasting support. For the artificial grass section, a plastic grid system was fitted, followed by a sharp sand layer and membrane sheeting to ensure stability, drainage, and weed control.
- Patio Construction – Indian Sandstone
- We laid premium Indian sandstone slabs in a contemporary grey colour, carefully placed on a solid full bed of mortar. To boost adhesion and durability, SBR Bonder was applied throughout. The result is a smooth, professional finish with clean lines and a stylish mix of slab sizes.
- Raised Lawn & Timber Features
- At the rear, we installed pressure-treated timber sleepers to create raised borders and secure the artificial lawn. The turf was laid seamlessly within the frame, offering a lush, low maintenance green area perfect for relaxing or entertaining.
