We recently completed a full front garden and driveway transformation in Burnley, replacing an unused lawn area with a modern grey block paved driveway designed for both practicality and visual impact.
The original space was largely grass with a narrow path, offering limited usable parking and lacking definition. The customer wanted to maximise space, improve access, and create a clean, low-maintenance finish that complemented the property.

The Before
The original front garden consisted mainly of grass with a basic pathway and minimal structure. Over time, this created several issues:
Limited usable parking space
Worn and uneven access paths
Grass becoming patchy and difficult to maintain
Lack of visual impact from the roadside
The space didn’t make the most of the available area and didn’t provide the practicality the homeowner needed.
Our Process
- Full Excavation & Ground Preparation
We removed the existing lawn and pathway, excavating the entire area to the correct depth to prepare for a new driveway installation. - Sub-Base Installation
A solid MOT Type 1 sub-base was installed and mechanically compacted to create a strong, long-lasting foundation suitable for regular vehicle use. - Edging & Raised Brick Features
New raised brick planters and retaining edges were constructed around the property, helping define the space while adding structure and character to the design. - Block Paving Installation
We laid high-quality grey block paving in a herringbone pattern across the main driveway, ensuring strength and durability. A contrasting charcoal border was installed to frame the driveway and highlight the layout. - Decorative Detailing
A standout feature was added at the front using contrasting blocks to create a geometric focal point, giving the driveway a bespoke finish. - Drainage & Finishing Touches
Careful attention was given to levels and drainage to ensure effective water runoff. Final checks and detailing ensured clean lines and a professional finish throughout.
