The driveway consisted mainly of loose gravel with uneven, worn and overgrown sections around the side of the property. The different surfaces created a disjointed appearance and limited how effectively the available space could be used.

After

The entire area has been transformed with a smooth, professionally installed tarmac surface framed by attractive block-paved edging. The completed driveway provides improved vehicle access, more practical parking space, effective drainage and a clean finish that complements the property.

Preparing the Driveway

The original driveway consisted mainly of loose gravel, with several uneven and deteriorated sections around the property. There were also old concrete, paving and garden areas that prevented the space from being used to its full potential.

Our team excavated the driveway using specialist machinery, removing the loose materials and clearing the areas scheduled for improvement. The ground was then levelled and prepared with a strong, compacted sub-base to provide dependable support for the new surface.

Careful preparation is essential when installing a tarmac driveway, helping to minimise movement and create a finish capable of withstanding regular vehicle use.

Block-Paved Edging and Drainage

Contrasting block-paved edging was installed around the driveway before the tarmac was applied. Charcoal and natural-coloured blocks provide a smart decorative detail while clearly defining the edges of the new surface.

The blocks also create a neat transition between the driveway, pavement, house and surrounding garden areas. The existing raised flower bed was retained, allowing the colourful planting to remain an attractive feature at the front of the property.

A drainage channel was incorporated into the installation to collect surface water and help prevent it from gathering around the property.

Laying the New Tarmac Surface

Once the preparation and edging were complete, the new tarmac was installed and carefully compacted. The material was laid to the required levels and falls, creating a smooth and consistent surface across the full driveway.

Tarmac was an excellent choice for this project because it provides a hard-wearing, practical and relatively low-maintenance finish. Its clean appearance also works particularly well with the contrasting block-paved borders.

The Completed Driveway

The completed driveway has completely refreshed the front and side of the property. The old gravel and deteriorated areas have been replaced with a smart black tarmac surface that provides easier access, improved parking and a much tidier overall appearance.

The charcoal and natural block borders add definition without making the design overly decorative, while the retained flower bed introduces colour and character. The finished installation is practical, attractive and designed to provide many years of dependable use.
