Project Overview

We recently completed this impressive block paved driveway installation in Chorley, transforming the front of the property with a smart, durable and highly practical new surface using Medina Granite block paving.

The project involved removing the existing tired tarmac driveway and carrying out a full excavation of the area before installing a properly prepared sub-base. Our team created a much larger and more attractive driveway layout, improving both the appearance of the property and the amount of usable parking space available.

Before and After

Before

The property originally had an ageing tarmac driveway that had become worn, patchy and uneven in places. The existing surface lacked kerb appeal and did not make the most of the large frontage. The layout also felt dated, with the driveway area looking tired against the well-maintained garden and property exterior.

After

The completed driveway has completely refreshed the front of the home with a clean, modern block paved finish. The Medina Granite paving provides a smart grey-toned appearance that complements the property perfectly, while the contrasting border adds definition around the edges and gives the driveway a neat, premium finish.

The new layout provides a spacious, practical parking area with a smooth and long-lasting surface suitable for everyday use. The finished driveway has dramatically improved the property’s kerb appeal while creating a low-maintenance entrance that looks sharp from every angle.

The Meadow Drives Method

For this project, the customer selected Medina Granite block paving, a stylish grey mixed-tone block that works particularly well with modern and traditional homes. The variation in the paving tones creates a natural, textured appearance while helping to disguise everyday marks from vehicles and foot traffic.

We began by removing the old tarmac surface and excavating the driveway area to the correct depth. A strong sub-base was then installed and compacted to provide long-term stability. A membrane and laying course were prepared before the blocks were carefully laid in a neat pattern across the full driveway area.

A darker block paved border was installed around the perimeter to frame the driveway and create a crisp, professional finish. The sweeping layout was designed to work with the existing garden borders and entrance points, giving the property a more open and welcoming approach.

Once the paving was complete, the driveway was kiln-dried sanded, compacted and finished to ensure the blocks were securely locked into place. The result is a strong, attractive and practical driveway built to stand up to daily use.
